The biggest celebration of Christmas in Israel is the lighting of the Christmas tree near Mary’s well in Nazareth. Tens of thousands of people attend the celebration and the “Christmas market” in the days that follow. Sadly, this celebration of Christmas in Nazareth is very secular.
This year, however, members of the Local Baptist Church in Nazareth took the initiative to bless the event and its attendees with their presence. They erected a tent nearby the celebration and hung a banner reading, “The owner of Christmas is the son of Nazareth.” Many people visited the tent and were able to hear about the real reason for the season.
