Annual ABC Youth Conference Resumes Oct. 11-14 The annual Association of Baptist Churches Youth Conference resumed this October 11-14, 2007 with great success after last year’s cancellation due to the war with Lebanon. Over 70 kids and young adults ages 14-25 from Baptist churches across the Galilee region gathered to hear from church leaders and to participate in sports activities, praise and worship and fellowship. The Conference is held every year at Baptist Village, a recreational facility located just outside Tel Aviv, owned and operated by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. This year, the Conference took place during Eid ul-Fitr, the Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan. As Muslims celebrated the end of a month of fasting, local Baptist youth gathered together in Christian harmony to enjoy a time of spiritual growth and companionship. Praise and worship was led by Ziad Farraj and Nader Hayek. The Word of God was presented by Pastor Philip Sa’ad, the pastor of Haifa Baptist Church and Ashraf Abishai, pastor of Shafamer Baptist Church and leader of the ABC outreach program. There were workshops offered throughout the Conference on such subjects as: How to follow God, the Call of God on your Life, Obedience, and Returning to your Soul. Sports activities were organized and led by Bro. Nader Ghanadri, the youth leader of Maranatha Baptist Church in Rama and Sis. Shadia Qupty from Local Baptist Church Nazareth who presently works as program manager of Musalaha, a reconciliation ministry between Messianic Jews and Christian Arabs.
